Is it possible to use gel stain on the top layer of clear acrylic lacquer?
I want to know the possibility of using gel stain on top of a layer of clear acrylic varnish. I have a pine cabinet with clear acrylic lacquer and want to color the pieces of a different color. Not worth separating the room I just want to know about the coatings can be applied to the acrylic paint (if applicable). If a task is possible, then it would be appropriate to seal coat the stain? More than acrylic?
Watch for something similar to what we call a thin coating of "stain." You must scratch the surface a little, but you should add the color you want. Stain does not penetrate the wood if it is sealed and will seal lacquer.
